Despite some jittery nerves for the first race of the training, we both ran very well. Andale! Andale! Arriba! Arriba!

Don’t forget to sign up for the 10k Rum Run in Tualatin in a couple weeks:

http://www.10krumrun.com/

Kate and I will be there!

(you can see pictures from the event HERE!)

First Race, Coming Up!

Good job runners on two weeks of good running habits. You’ve now completed two of your “long” runs, and now its time to celebrate, with… the CINCO DE MAYO run, this Sunday at 8am.

If you haven’t already, sign up HERE!

Here’s a map of the route in case you’re interested in where you’ll be running. We’ll all be meeting up bright and early in the morning to pick up our race packets (6:30am) and keeping loose/eating bananas until the race starts at 8am.

Remember to drink A LOT of water this week. Tote a water bottle with you everywhere. Try not too eat too many sugary or fatty foods, as these are harder for your body to process and will keep your muscles from being in tip-top shape come race day.

Also, keep a record of what you eat this week. You don’t have to change it, just pay attention, because come race day you’ll need to take note of how well your body performs on that particular diet.

Sign up! Get excited! Your first race day draws nigh…

Find a track//Day Four

First of all, I apologize for the bad pictures. Secondly, I’m waiting for tumblr to allow comments on my secondary blogs. Meanwhile, its a one-sided conversation. :)

Yesterday, Kate and I went and found a track to do our speed workout on. It was turning dark by the time we got out there,(thus the amazing photography) but the air temperature was perfect.

Going out to find new places to run is a great way to inspire yourself to run. While running the same running loop over and over again gives consistency, and helps you get out there ever day, you are in danger of losing interest in running, and slumping into a pace that bores your body to death.

Kate: a speeding blur…

Make sure to adhere to track rules, if you find yourself one. You might consider yourself running for “specific training” as is pertinent to rule 2.

And don’t forget to stretch! It’s a really important part of training your body, and keeping your muscles happy and growing.

Its a beautiful day… don’t forget to run!

WELCOME // Our Training Blog

So by now, you’ve run a few times. You’ve purchased new shoes. You’ve told your friends you’re training to run a “half”, you’ve memorized your 12 week training program. And its time for the rubber to meet the road.

The training schedules you should be following, and you can refer back to, (should you become disoriented and forget what week you’re on) are posted below. I do apologize for the unfortunate graphics. Hal Higdon is known for his running methods, not his design aesthetics.

This Blog is for you. I’m hoping to update it at least a week (probably more) as we go through this training project, so you have a place to comment and socialize with your fellow trainers. Its the next best thing from actually running together.
